A Variety of Games

These pages derive from articles that appeared in volume 2 of the Games and Puzzles Journal (issues 13 to 18) 1996-2001. They later also appeared as an "Offshoot" to the Games and Puzzles Journal Online issues. It is a pity that some of the distinctive type styles used for the game headings in the magazine cannot be reproduced online.

Orthodox Chess

Having joined the Hastings and St Leonards Chess Club in 2010 I began playing orthodox chess again after a break of about twenty years. Here are a couple of my better games. Clicking on the arrow leads to a page where the game can be played through, by clicking on the forward arrow below the diagram.
è George Jelliss v Joe Thorley, Paul Watson Trophy, 10 March 2012.
è George Jelliss v Mason Woodhams, Hastings New Year Morning Tournament, 2 January 2013.

For a short while I also maintained the Hastings and St Leonards Chess Club website, but it is now in new hands
and all the historical material about the club itself has disappeared.

In 2019 I moved to Crewe and am now a member of Crewe Chess Club.
